Science
At Churchend, our priority is to develop curious thinkers who are eager to learn more about the world around them through subject knowledge and scientific skills. The curriculum is designed for all pupils to make strong progress which prepares them for secondary school.
We offer a carefully sequenced curriculum using Plymouth Science to deepen children’s understanding. Pupils will be able to use specific vocabulary and practical approaches to answer scientific questions relating to the world around them. Our lessons largely follow a child-led approach, with teacher input where necessary, to give children the independence to conduct investigations and problem solve.
Our high-quality scientific education encourages pupils to plan and evaluate their learning through investigations to help them make sense of real-world concepts. Where possible, we incorporate science-based books in our learning as well
