We are a very hard working class and are taught by Mr Allen, Mrs Golledge, Mrs Clark and Mr Pearse. We are lucky to have help with our learning from: Mrs Webb, Miss Beasley and Miss Salmon. We are located up the stairs and are very excited about the term ahead.
We have a very interesting term ahead, during which we'll learn about the ancient Greek civilisation and in Science we will perform a number of experiments to develop our understanding of sound.
In English, we will be completing our study 'The Highwayman’ before moving on to persuasive writing and Greek myths.
We will be having weekly spellings tests on Wednesdays to help us with our English writing and weekly English homework, which will go out on a Thursday for the following Tuesday. We will also be having Talk Homework. This will be given out on a Monday and will need to be discussed at home in preparation for our writing lesson on Friday.
In maths, we will have weekly mental arithmetic sessions for which your child will need to practise their times tables and we will carry on learning how and when to apply the four operations. We will be having weekly homework, which will go out on a Wednesday for the following Monday. Practise for mental arithmethic will be sent home on Monday.
Mr Pearse will take PE on a Thursday and Mr Allen will take swimming on a Friday, 2pm - 2:30pm. As there are lots of sporting opportunities in Year 4 & 5, we ask that PE kits are left in school from Monday to Friday.
Even though children in Year 4 & 5 like to read on their own, it is still important that they read regularly to an adult. Please list any books read at home in your child's reading record book. When reading at home, it will greatly assist your child's understanding of the book if you can discuss their thoughts and feelings about what they have read.
Keep looking at this page as we are sure to have some exciting pictures to show you soon.
