Year 3

This year our teacher is Miss Whitty, and we are very lucky to have the help of Mrs Jenkins in the classroom as well. We are a fabulous class who always work hard at everything we do!

Our topic in Combined studies this term will be Castles. We are excited about our trip to Warwick castle. This term we are becoming photographers and artists and combining our work together to make a collaborative piece at the end of term.

In English we are currently looking at quest myths. We know the features of a myth and  have started to read lots of different myths passed down from generation to generation. Soon we will be focusing more on key features before finally being able to get creative and write our own myths.
Each week TALK HOMEWORK will be set on a MONDAY ready for our BIG WRITING lesson on a FRIDAY. Talk homework is very important because it helps our imagination and ideas flow before our independent writing session on Friday. If you lose the talk homework throughout the week there is a spare copy on the classroom door.

We are very lucky to have Mrs Freeman teach us Science on a Thursday. This term our science topic is Light and Shadow. Last term we were discovering what would happen if a plant was being refused particular things it needed to grow.

PE will take place on a MONDAY and a WEDNESDAY,  but this may sometimes change due to weather. Therefore is is very important to bring our PE kits in EVERY MONDAY and to keep it in school the entire week! As this term is the summer term, we are hoping for some glorious weather, please make sure we are prepared by bringing a hat and water bottle every day to school

This year we will be having weekly times tables and spelling tests to ensure we are continuing our numeracy and literacy development. It is important that these are being done at home as it helps our maths and literacy writing in class.
Homework will be set on a Thursday and collected in the following Tuesday. This will consist of both a literacy and Numeracy task each week.
Thank you to the parent helpers that already come and help with book changing and reading. We welcome everyone into our classroom and we love reading to different adults as this helps our literacy skills. Please speak to Miss Whitty if you can spare half an hour of your time to listen to us read to you!

If you have any concerns or queries, please do not hesitate to come and speak to Miss Whitty or Mrs Jenkins they are very friendly and happy to help!
