A very warm welcome to Year 1
We hope you have enjoyed your summer break, we are really looking forward to getting to know all of you this term.
In Year 1 we have Kangaroo class, taught by Mrs Smithers on Monday and Tuesday and Mrs Fields from Wednesday to Friday.
Koala class are taught by Mrs Swart.
We are very fortunate to have Mrs Bexx, Ms Callender and Mrs. Jayanth as our teaching assistants who support the classes on a daily basis.
PE lessons will be taking place on Thursday afternoons and will be taught by NSsports coach Mr Ward and Mrs Fields. We are asking children to come to school in their full PE kit on PE days so no school uniform will be needed on a Thursday.
Reading books will be given out every Monday and collected in each Friday.
Our first trip of the year will be a walk to the woods on Wednesday 21st October. We would really appreciate additional adult support. Please let us know if you are available.
Maths this term will focus on number knowledge before moving on to addition and subtraction.
In Literacy we will be looking at stories, poems and instructions. We will be trying to think about our word choices to make our speaking and writing more exciting and descriptive.
Our first topic in Year 1 is food. We will be finding out about where food comes from and how this affects towns and cities. We will also be investigating harvest festivals, exploring the importance of fruit and vegetables along with creating our own fruit kebabs.
We will be updating the class dojo pages and website regularly so please check for updates.
