Spring Term Information

A very warm welcome back, we hope you have had an enjoyable break. Hopefully, you are all feeling refreshed because this Spring term is going to be extra busy!

The class timetable is by the door we use to access the playground and available on line as a few small changes have been made. Please try to ensure that PE kits are in school every day as it is sometimes necessary to make last minute changes or additions to the children’s PE schedule.

English: This term we are starting by doing our year 3 novel study, in which we read Morpurgo's 'The Butterfly Lion'. This fantastic story always inspires some super drama and writing. After half term, we will focus on non-chronological reports and stories based on the environments we will be studying in Combined Studies.

Maths: Please see the Year 3 door for our Maths topics this term. Homework will still predominantly be online via the MyMaths website: or through extra sheets sent home when needed.

Combined studies: We will be starting our 'Extreme Environment' topic by using atlases to locate them around the world, investigating how plants and animals survive there and creating a piece of art based around the rainforest. Please see our topic overview on the Curriculum Page on our website for more details.

Science: We will start our new science topic of ‘Rocks’ by making our own versions of Sedimentary, Metamorphic and Igneous rocks out of chocolate. We will be learning to compare and group rocks according to their properties as well as carrying out investigative work on the properties of the rocks. After half term we will be focusing on forces and magnets!

Times Tables

It is incredibly important that children can confidently recall the multiplication and division facts for the tables they are working on.You may find the following website, which contains many different times tables interactive activities useful in helping your child learn their times tables:

Times Table Rock Stars will be be used to help with times tables, so please keep using it!

Thank you all for your support and cooperation, we are really looking forward to all that this term has to offer and giving your children the opportunities to experience new and exciting things. If you do have any questions, please do not hesitate to come and see us!

Kind Regards

Mrs Burridge and Mr Roscoe
