||I hold 35 years’ experience in the field of project management, education and training. I completed, and passed the National College for School Leadership School Business Director (SBD) programme (masters level) in 2011 and in January 2012, I was appointed a Specialist Leader of Education in Business Management by the Churchend Academy.
Competencies: school finance and business planning, budget and project management, organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Roles undertaken: I have worked in South Reading for over 6 years (2006-2012), and in October 2014 returned to the role of WEC Development Manager after a break of two years. I work across the 10 schools in South Reading, covering all phases. I am responsible for the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of the WEC action plan, as agreed by the headteachers. I facilitate cross cluster working groups of the Business Managers, Admin Staff and Family Workers within our schools. Ensuring the dissemination of information, sharing of best practice and opportunities for joint working and procurement. I also work closely with the LA, local community groups and the University of Reading, to support training and enrichment opportunities in Whitley schools.
I prepare and submit bids on behalf of the Cluster to support holiday programmes for our children and the community, working as a partner of our charity Aspire2.
From June 2013 – Oct 2014 I worked as the Finance Officer for two federated schools in Cambridgeshire. Updating my skills on FMS & SIMS. Managing all ordering and invoicing for the two schools, monthly reporting to the LA, HR duties relating to recruitment, DBS checks and maintenance of the SCR. I was also responsible for H&S compliance and the setting up of a lettings programme in the new school, preparing letting agreements and invoicing.
From Jan 2013-May 2013 I worked as Business Manager for a Reading Primary school, on their conversion to Academy status. Helping the Headteacher review staffing structures, office procedures, oversee H&S compliance and buildings maintenance.
From 1998 – 2006 I worked as Project, Contract and Training manager with CfBT, Education Trust, which included operational management of national training and development programmes. I was also responsible for the operational management of two School Improvement contracts held with East Sussex and Lincolnshire LAs.
I have been a Governor Trainer for Berkshire LA, and a training officer with HM Customs and Excise - drafting training materials, writing and producing training videos.
I am happy to work on any aspect of school business – from front desk reception, to reviewing procedures, re-structure and budget planning.
I have been a Foster Carer and I am currently a governor at a Reading Academy, with responsibility for HR. I enjoy working in education, and have returned to work in Reading as I value the commitment and dedication of the staff in our schools in driving up standards, and ensuring every child has the best possible opportunities in life.
