Welcome to Reception
We have lots of adults who work in class to help us become super clever. Our teacher is Miss Harrison, we also have Mrs Phillips and Miss Beasley they are all here to help us with our learning and to keep us safe at school.
Our classroom is very busy, we have lots of activities and areas that we can enjoy. In the morning we spend some time as a class getting to know each other, singing songs, sharing stories or talking about our weekend news. It is very important that everyone feels welcome in our class so we spend time everyday making each other feel special. We then learn some of letters and sounds to help us with our reading and writing, we call this phonics. After all our hard work our brains need some energy so we sit in groups, share fruit and play in the playground. Some mornings we also do number work, we count, order numbers and find totals.
In the afternoon we learn lots about the world around us through our topic. Our topic this term is Food.
We have two very special days in the week and these are Monday afternoon and Thursday morning, these are the days when we have physical education. We learn how to control objects and play team games with others in our class.
On a Tuesday 10 children go to forest school and the rest of us stay at school and cook up some delicious treats.
We like to celebrate the achievements in our class and we do this by using classdojo, star of the day, marble jar, golden book and prizes.
This term our topic is Fairytales. We will be looking at the different characters in fairytales, how the stories are similar and we will also be looking at how the same fairytale can be told in different ways.
