Year 5 have been exploring how metaphor, simile and personification are used to create powerful imagery in poetry. The children have analysed a range of poems including The Dragonfly, A Smuggler's Song by Rudyard Kipling and A Date with Spring by John Agard to understand the use of different stylistic features.
The class have also learnt and performed a range of poems to understand how the voice can be used to bring poems to life.
Finally, the children have worked both collaboratively and individually to write poems inspired by famous painting including 'A Wheatfield with Cypresses' by Van Gogh and 'A Tiger in Tropical storm' by Henri Rosseau.
