    CHURCHEND ACADEMY GOVERNANCE

    The schools Local Governing Body (LGB) is delegated functions by the Orchard Learning Alliance Trust Board and is responsible for quality of education, specifically:

    • Standards – alignment of vision, ethos and strategy, monitoring school performance, challenge and support headteacher.

    • Stakeholder Engagement - engage with pupils, staff, parents and the wider school community to understand their views.

    • Safeguarding – ensure a culture of safety and wellbeing in school and monitor the implementation of safeguarding policies.

    • SEND – policies and procedures, monitoring the effectiveness of the school’s SEND provision.

    In addition, the LGB is also consulted on finance and is responsible for monitoring the impact of spend, and responsible for appointing trained governors to panels to address situations that might arise.

    Each Governor serves a term of 4 years, and the Chair and Vice Chair are elected at the start of each school year. The LGB meet six times a year and minutes of the meetings are available on request from the clerk (clerk@churchendacademy.com).
