What a fantastic day! We started our Holi celebration around the campfire, where we put our old rubbish onto the fire ready to start a new. We enjoyed eating popcorn around the bonfire as we learnt about some of the traditions of Holi and how it is a celebration of good over evil. We heard of a young cheeky boy called Krishna who would spray water and coloured powder at the milk maids. The children then got to make a colourful mask and their own Indian sweets called Barfi. After lunch we did some dancing to Bollywood music and learnt some of the moves from Mrs Savill and Mrs Phillips. We were brilliant at it. After all that exercise, we tried our Barfi and some other Indian sweets before getting ready for our colour fun! Outside we threw beautiful coloured powder in the air and on our clothes and skin. We played some water games and enjoyed spraying and splashing one another with coloured water. The children had so much fun they didn't want to go back in at the end of the day. Everyone got into the spirit of Holi which is having fun whoever you are!
