We Are Really Proud

We hope you enjoy our beautiful poems as much as our teacher does! We put a lot of effort in to making them the best they could be. We even created our own success criteria before we wrote them so that we could be sure we would write the most wonderful poem possible.

Reading, enjoying, analysing poetry

The Firework Maker's Daughter - Phillip Pullman

This term in English, the Wolf Clan have been doing a novel study on the wonderful story of The Firework Maker's Daughter. Whilst looking at Restless Earth in Combined Studies, we have seen how the power of movements under the Earth's crust cause many natural phenomena such as earthquakes, tidal waves and volcanoes. Reading this story gave us such a rich and differing creative perspective on what a volcano's strengths and prowess were and the children were so taken with the story.

Here are a selection of the beautifully illustrated and captioned storyboards the children created based upon what they deemed to be the key features of the story when looking back and discussing the turning points of the novel.

Christmas Poetry Writing - December 2017

To get into the festive spirit, the Wolf Clan have been looking at the story written by Clement Clarke Moore - T'was the Night Before Christmas.

Having read, listened to and analysed the key features of this wonderful poem, Year 4 took the first two lines and used them as inspiration to write their own versions.

We hope you enjoy them as much as we did.
