The Reception children have been finding out about Diwali- the festival of lights. The children heard the story of Rama and Sita which is remembered at Diwali. It is a story how good triumphed over evil. The festival celebrates with fireworks, oil lamps and candles, the little diya lamps that led Rama and Sita home. It is a festival celebrated by Hindus and Mrs Tawde came in to talk about it and helped us make beautiful Rangoli patterns.
The children made their own Diwali sweets - Barfi. They rolled the mixture into balls and then rolled the balls in the decorations. They were yummy!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
