We have been celebrating the Hindu and Sikh festival of light, Diwali, with the children. We have learnt the Hindu story of Rama and Sita, acting it out with puppets and made rangoli patterns with coloured rice and coloured shapes. The children made Diwali cards with a tradition indian mirror work decoration. Some of the children had the chance to make Indian sweets called Barfi, which they really enjoyed making and tasting!
We finished our celebrations with a sharing assembly where the children and parents celebrating Diwali, came dressed in their special festival clothes. They looked amazing and the parents made a wonderful rangoli pattern with Diyas for the children to see. It was lovely to have everyone sharing and celebrating together.
