Open Afternoon
For their open afternoon, Year 6 read out some of their World War I poems, re-enacted the Christmas Day truce and performed their German and English version of Silent Night. It was a fantastic opportunity to show off all of their fantastic work this term. Thank you to all parents and families who attended.
WWI Cross stitch
Year 6 designed and created a World War I themed cross stitch pattern. It took them a long time to perfect them but the results were fantastic!
Black History Month
In honour of Black History Month and as part of their topic of World War One, Year 6 have been learning about the life of Walter Tull. During English lessons, they wrote a biography about him having researched his childhood, football career and time at war. They have also read sections of Morpurgo's 'Medal For Leroy' which is largely based on Tull's life. Finally, they have sketched a portrait of him, using different sketching techniques.
