We have been celebrating Chinese New Year with lion dances and dragon dancing!
A lion dance is 2 people working together to make the head and the tail of the lion. The dancing is always very energetic and acrobatic. We worked in pairs using scarves to hold our lion body together. We did lots of jumps and leaps and rolls on the ground.
A dragon dance is a group of people dancing in a line to form the dragon's body. Miss Salmon carried the pearl which all dragons like to chase so the dragon keeps on moving.
We also made some Chinese music and rhythms for the dragons to dance to. We used drums, cymbals and wooden percussion instruments to keep those dragons moving!
