Bonfire Night

We have been learning about the story of Guy Fawkes and how 400 years ago he tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament to kill King James and his government. Guy Fawkes did not succeed because the soldiers arrested him with the gunpowder before he could light it. He was put in prison in the Tower of London. King James was very happy and said that everyone should celebrate by lighting a bonfire to remember how the Gunpowder Plot happened.

We made models of the Houses of Parliament and painted beautiful firework pictures. We used musical instruments to help us put sound effects to a firework poem. We did a colourful firework dance with ribbons to put on our own fireworks display.

We have been very busy for Bonfire Night. Look at our photos to see what we have been doing...
