The 12 Labours of Heracles
Year 5 have been learning all about Greek myths this term. They have read lots of different ones but focused particularly on the Labours of Heracles. They planned, wrote and edited their own labour and then read it aloud to the Jaguar class. They all worked very hard on their myths and did an excellent job reading to the younger children.
A visit from Henry VIII - 16th November
This week Year 5 have been doing some persuasive writing. They created a brand new wife for Henry VIII and they had to write a persuasive letter to Henry, hoping that he would choose their wife as his next bride. At the end of the week, they were very lucky to receive a visit from Henry VIII and some children were able to read their persuasive letters to him.
We have been learning about the poem 'The Highwayman' by Alfred Noyes. We have been studying the story, the characters and the language. This week we worked in groups to perform part of the poem. We thought about what makes a successful poetry performance and how we could use actions, tone of voice and expression. Please see the videos below.
