Diwali and Rangoli

Diwali at Churchend

This week we have been learning about Diwali, a festival celebrated all over the world by Hindus and Sikhs.  We have thought about how we celebrate our own special occasions, and then learned about how Diwali is celebrated.  There are lots of similarities like getting together with family and friends, sharing food, decorating the house and wearing special clothes.

The decoration for Diwali is called Rangoli.  We had a visit from four of our parents to help us draw Rangoli patterns in our outdoor area.  Look at our work below!  We then tried to create our own patterns.  Thank you to Ananya, Kanishka and Kiaan's mums for coming to help us out, and to Tavish's mum from Mrs Savill's class.  You have made our outdoors feel like a very special place.
